PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT, REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT

Your portfolio is the most important aspect of your post-secondary Arts admission application. I can help you to prepare and organize a strong portfolio and artist's statement that will exceed the expectations of the portfolio review. I will give you the ability to speak coherently about your artwork and creative process to the assessors.

I have been responsible for portfolio reviews at both Sheridan and OCAD, and as a former Sheridan professor in the Illustration & Art Fundamentals Programs, I have an intimate knowledge of the portfolio assessment process.

Portfolio development and assessment is also available in the classroom setting, and I also mentor secondary school students to develop visual artwork and review portfolios for the Advanced Placement Program and the International Baccalaureate Program.

VISUAL ARTS TEACHER & ARTIST IN THE CLASSROOM

As a graduate of the Art and Art History Program from the University of Toronto and Sheridan, I combine my mixed media artistic skills and art history knowledge along with my teaching and work experience to develop curriculum based, creative arts projects.

Such projects can include:
- 3-Dimensional Shadow Box replication of art history paintings (see Renaissance Painting project below)
- Figure drawing exploring gesture drawing, sustained poses and drawing from the figure using charcoal, graphite and other media (see Foreshortening Project below)

'The Business of Being an Artist' is an informative session for students discussing various professions, educational requirements, marketing, self promotion and entrepreneurial aspects. As a professional artist I share my educational and teaching background, my personal experience as an exhibiting artist, as well as my work experience in the graphic design and printing industries.
